A new aperture-coupled circularly polarized microstrip antenna with F-shaped slot is proposed for wide beamwidth. The F-shaped slot is embedded at centre of the square microstrip patch on thin dielectric substrate and mounted on thick foam layer. 27 Feeding Methods Aperture-coupled Patch (ACP) Top view. Novel Aperture-Coupled Microstrip-Line Feed for Circularly Polarized Patch Antenna Hau Wah Lai., Ka Ming Mak, and Ka Fai Chan Abstract A wideband circularly polarized patch antenna is proposed. The wide impedance and axial ratio bandwidths are achieved by the proposed feeding mechanism, which entails the use of a circular.
A New Aperture Coupled Microstrip Slot Antenna Combo
A microstrip-fed aperture coupled microstrip antenna was designed by Rao et. al. [1]. A variant of this antenna was implemented in FEKO for the following specifications:
- 5.5 GHz centre frequency
- 50 Ω input impedance
- Substrate, ε = 3.2, height = 1.0 mm
Geometry for the slot antenna: (a) Top view and
(b) side view
Dimensions of geometry are:
- dy = 29 mm
- dx = 18 mm
- Ws = 2 mm
- Ls = 54 mm
- Wm = 2.35 mm
- Wp = Lp = 2t = 0.9dx = 16.2 mm
FEKO’s implementation of the planar Greens function features the ability to model the slots in the ground plane as magnetic triangles, which means that only the slots are meshed and not the ground plane itself, saving significantly on simulation resources.
